So if I ask you,
When you are singing and rehearsing at your best, what’s that like?”
What is your answer?
Is it hearing loud applause, ringing a perfect chord, being in a room full of singers proud of what they just sang? Must it include affirmation from others, or can you recognize it alone?
Are you a performer at heart, and your best is only as identified by your audience? Or are you satisfied with being your personal best in-the-moment?
And, does your chorus or organization define “best” differently than you do?
Every organization has likely previously defined their vision and mission while looking toward the [perhaps unspoken] goal of “best”. Assumptions are part of our daily life, so it would be fascinating to get everyone’s ideas and presumptions verbalized and open for discussion.
What is your organization’s “best”? Is it something you can quantify, then put into action plans? Is it in line with your organization’s vision and mission? And are you looking towards “best” with every encounter? Does anything need to change?
Have the conversation. Great communication is also part of being at your best.
